The Weeknd's Debut Mixtape "House Of Balloons" Released 10 Years Ago Today

The Weeknd released his debut mixtape ‘House of Balloons’ 10 years ago today. The mixtape features 10 tracks with no features. One of the most iconic songs off the mixtape was the song “Wicked Games” which debuted at number 53 on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as going 3 times platinum in the US alone. The song was also remastered and rereleased on his album “Trilogy” as his lead single for the project which was an album of all three mixtapes The Weeknd released in 2011.

This mixtape truly jump started The Weeknd’s career into being more of a household name in the music industry as this lead to two more mixtapes being released that same year in “Thursday” & “Echoes of Silence” which featured songs such as “The Zone” featuring Canada’s very own Drake & “D.D” which is a remix to Michael Jackson’s “Dirty Diana.” Congratulations to The Weeknd & his label XO on their great success throughout their careers & an impressive milestone.
